The Body in the Attic
A Faith Fairchild Mystery
By Katherine Hall Page

When Rev. Tom Fairchild decides to take a sabbatical, he doesn't consult his wife, Faith, until it's a done deal. Beginning in February, Tom will take a temporary teaching job at Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, not far from Aleford. They will housesit for Dr. Theodore Robinson, the professor for whom Tom is substituting. Of course Faith will have to cope with her catering business and the children's schooling away from home.

Faith is furious at first, but finally gives in. She is delighted with the house—until she reaches the nursery. It seems innocent enough, but Faith has the overwhelming sensation that something awful happened in that room. She resolves to keep the children out of there. However, while watching The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, her son, Ben, remembers seeing a similar wardrobe in the nursery. While Faith answers the phone downstairs, Ben and his sister Amy decide to find their own way to Narnia. All Ben finds is an old book hidden in the back of the wardrobe.

Though Faith locks the nursery, she keeps the book with her. It's an old diary with no name in it. Faith feels compelled to read it. The more she reads, the more she's convinced its author met a horrible end.

The Body in the Attic is Faith Fairchild at her best. She, as always, manages to find a murder to solve. This story, though seemingly straightforward, has a great many turns and twists. Faith must find the killer before the killer finds her. As always, she manages to concoct some delicious recipes along the way. This is another winner for Faith Fairchild fans.
