by Don Porter
Alex Price, a bush pilot, is en route to Fairbanks, Alaska to spend some time with his
Athabascan wife Angie and his former prospecting partner Stan. Stan issues an urgent
summons to Alex to meet him at a local bar where he wants to discuss a pressing problem.
Before he can fully disclose his troubles, Stan meets his death outside the bar in an
explosion in his vehicle. Alex sees this as a possible threat to Angie and rushes home
to protect her.
They have no idea who is trying to kill them or why. But they flee the area seeking
sanctary while being pursued from Point Barrow to Valdez. They find that old friends are
not always as trustworthy as they thought they were. They become involved in a web of
deceit and intrigue.
The mystery and suspense in the couple's flight across Alaska is constant. The action
is swift. The relationship between Alex and Angie is made close with their sharing of
their loss and grief. The beauty and majesty of the Alaskan landscape is vividly described. |
