When Abby Knight dropped out of law school, she bought the North Chapel, Ill flower shop,
Bloomers, from the owner who needed the money to defray her husband's medical expenses.
Abby's latest problem is providing the floral decorations for the DeWill 4th of July barbeque.
Trude wanted red, white and blue carnations. The supplier sent blue, white and petal pink
carnations instead. Rather than lose the fat fee promised, Abby solves the problem by
spray painting the pink carnations fire engine red.
Her other problem is the opulent wedding and reception of her cousin, Gillian who has already
stood up 4 grooms. Abby is to be a bridesmaid wearing a horrible print dress that makes
her look like a clown. To add to that, her ex-fiancefiancé is the best man. She
has the additional responsibility of bed sitting the groom's grandmother.
When Grandma turns up missing at the reception, Abby joins the hunt for her. Instead of
finding Grandma, Abby finds one of the guests, Jack Snyder, dead in the gazebo. He had
gate-crashed the reception after having a fight with Melissa' s father. Melissa just happens
to be Abby's friend. Police arrest Abby's assistant's boy friend because he had threatened
Snyder after he discovered Snyder was embezzling from their company. He has a record in
Texas for manslaughter (murder).
Abby sets out to prove his innocence while placing her own life in danger.
Abby enters the ranks of female sleuths -charming, resourceful and loyal to her friends.
This is an exciting who-dun-it, full of twists and turns with enough suspects who have reasons
to kill Snyder that the reader will be kept in suspense. The unexpected twist makes the
story even more intriguing.
