The Lincoln Lawyer
by Michael Connelly
Michael "Mickey" Haller is the son of a famous defense attorney. An attorney himself, he
operates his business out of his Lincoln. Riding from appointments to court dates to
prisons he earns his money from clients that he knows are guilty. Perhaps he doesn't
stop to think if they are guilty nor does he really care. He justifies his job as doing
his part in keeping the system moving. Drug dealers, prostitutes and murder suspects
make up his clientele.
The biggest potential money making client of his career chooses him to represent him.
Perhaps for the first time Mickey has taken on an innocent client. He always wondered if
he would know an innocent one if he saw one. Is Louis Roulet that man? Louis is accused
of the attempted rape and assault of a girl he met in a bar who later on is found to be
a prostitute and possibly only after Roulet's money. Can Mickey help him or will Louis
end up like his last client who was accused of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Is
Mickey too bitter about the world in general to know the difference anymore between guilt
and innocence? Will it endanger his life this time? For the first time Mickey might have
to take an honest look at the job he's been doing and the life he's been leading.
The Lincoln Lawyer is a first time legal thriller for award winning author
Michael Connelly. In true Connelly fashion this book is an exciting ride along adventure.
Having read most of Mr. Connelly's work I can assure you that once again he hits the mark
of satisfying the reader. I hope to see more legal thrillers from him in the future. |
