See
Isabelle Run
By
Elizabeth Bloom
Isabelle
Leonard makes headlines by dancing on top of the tables at her wedding
reception. What makes this a newsworthy event is that there was
no wedding before the reception. Isabelle’s fiancée
runs off with her maid of honor about 20 minutes before the service.
They go off to Fiji and enjoy the honeymoon without the bride. Becky
Beldon, who very closely resembles Martha Stewart, sees the newspaper
article, feels sorry for Isabelle, and offers her a job working
at Becky Beldon Multimedia. Her first boss is Lisa Kinne, who is
in charge of special projects and Isabelle is her assistant. Isabelle
finds out that the position is vacant because her predecessor died
when she was pushed in front of a subway train. Very quickly, Isabelle
learns about the rash of untimely deaths and disappearances of employees,
and her current boss gets added to the list. Isabelle is sure that
these incidents are not normal and she decides to investigate them.
All too soon Isabelle becomes a target as well.
Under
the pseudonym of Beth Saulnier, Bloom is the author of the Alex
Bernier series. In See Isabelle Run, Bloom introduces a
heroine who is charming, handles adversity with style, and is a
solid foundation for a series. The author artfully weaves the suspense
and humor around a fast paced plot. The characters are well-defined
and quirky in a manner fitting the N.Y. setting and the abnormally
“happy” environment of Becky Beldon Multimedia. See
Isabelle Run is a very enjoyable read that I most highly recommend
and hope that the author expands on this fantastic start into a
series. |
