Nothing to Fear But Ferrets
Kendra Ballantyne, Petsitter Mysteries #2
by Linda O. Johnston
Ms. Johnston continues her funny pet-sitter mystery series with Nothing to Fear But Ferrets.
Kendra Ballantyne is forced to solve a strange mystery involving the adorable but curious
ferrets of her renters. Will she be able to figure out the human that killed or did the
ferrets really decide to rebel and attack the hands that fed them? The mystery aspect in
Nothing to Fear But Ferrets was entertaining and quick to solve. There were no real
surprises at the end as in some mystery novels. As an animal fan, this reader thoroughly
enjoyed reading the antics of the ferrets. Not many authors can add humor to a mystery
series but Ms. Johnston does a fantastic job of doing just that.
Animals can be funny enough themselves but add in the element of someone trying to solve
a mystery and how, in this case, ferrets can get in the way is just great. Unfortunately
the dialogue and personality of Kendra Ballantyne seem immature and more that of a teenager
than an adult. Kendra's characterization is still enjoyable to read and it does not
tear the reader away from enjoying Nothing to Fear But Ferrets. |
