The 6th Target
The Women's Murder Club Series

by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro
Read by Carolyn McCormick

The Women’s Murder Club is back. The series takes place in San Francisco and the lead character is Lindsay Boxer. Each member of the Murder Club has a career to benefit the Club. Lindsay Boxer is a Lieutenant on the SFPD. She’s on duty when Claire is shot by Fred and his gun “Bucky.” I don’t recall if Fred or the evil voice in his head named the gun. Claire Washburn is the medical examiner. She and Lindsay are best friends and work closely. Yuki Castellano is the attorney. She’s determined to face Fred in court and gets her wish. And finally there is Cindy Thomas the reporter. She’s driven by loyalty to the Club, but also tempted to disclose the latest scoop first.

Lindsay has been promoted to Lieutenant. Her former partner is under her command. Her newest partner is young and tempting. All three work both the shooter (Fred) and serial kidnapper cases. The kidnapping cases had this listener hoping for a happy ending. Both cases are interesting – the suspense of chasing a serial kidnapper and the trial of Fred -- but the storyline as a whole isn’t as toe-gripping as some of their past cases. Still you learn more about the club members and meet some interesting characters created by Patterson and Paetro. 6th Target is a good fix for Patterson addicts. I know because I’m one.

Carolyn McCormick narrates the audio version. Her credits include both television and films. Patterson listeners will recognize her voice from 4th of July and The 5th Horseman. She brings out the best of Lindsay. There is language and violence, so remember your headphones. Patterson never disappoints. Be sure to share this one with your friends.
