Aunt Dimity Goes West
Aunt Dimity Mystery, # 12
by Nancy Atherton
Lori
Shepherd has been unable to recover emotionally from being shot
and almost killed by a madman who tried to kidnap her twin sons
in Scotland . She has had recurring nightmares. No treatment (hypnosis,
acupuncture, psychological therapy) has been successful. Hoping
that a change of scenery will be beneficial, her husband arranges
with a friend and client, Danny Auerbach, to send Lori, the twins
and Nanny Annelise to Danny's luxurious cabin, Aerie, located in
Bluebird, Colorado.
When
they arrive in Bluebird, Lori finds that the caretaker has left
unexpectedly without notice and his place is taken by a 21 year
old college student. The twins are well taken after by Annelise
and Toby and the neighboring cowboys as the twins are "horse
crazy". Lori finds the Auerbach family also left Aerie unexpectedly
and refuse to return. She learns that the site is thought to be
cursed by a mining accident which occurred a hundred years ago.
With the help of Toby and, of course, Aunt Dimity, and a new visitor
from "the other world" Lori sets out to dispel the situation.
This
is the usual Aunt Dimity humorous cozy. The story is wholesome and
clear. We meet new friends in Colorado who are very reminiscent
of those at home in England . The enjoyable story is set in the
beautiful state of Colorado .
A
bonus included is a recipe for Calico Cookies...Try them....Enjoy
them....I did....
