The Body in the Ivy
A Faith Fairchild Mystery, No. 16

by Katherine Hall Page

Faith Fairchild has been invited by reclusive best selling author, Barbara Bailey Bishop, to cater a weekend gathering in a remote New England (Maine) island. The guests are former classmates from thirty years ago from a Seven Sisters college, Pelham College. They are unaware of Bishop's true identity. They don't realize Bishop is the twin sister of Helene "Prin" Prince who fell from the campus tower the night before graduation, an apparent suicide. Bishop is determined to find the person responsible for her sister's death. She never believed the suicide decision. Each of the women had reason to kill Helene, who had acted cruelly toward each of them. Bishop has assembled this group to put each of the ten guests on trial for her sister's death. A northeaster cuts off access to the mainland. One of the women is found killed, and soon the death toll mounts as someone is trying to take revenge....but who? The tension rises. It becomes up to Faith to find the real killer before all those on the island are murdered.

This is a well-written fast paced " locked room" type mystery. The atmosphere of the Maine island is a perfect setting for the story.

The descriptions of the Maine weather and the storm are excellent. The tension and suspense are well maintained. The reader will find the story very reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None or Ten Little Indians....just brought into the twenty-first century.

An added bonus to the excellent story is the incredible recipes included. I tried them all and found them delicious.
