Evil Business
Sequel to See The Monkey
by John F. Nienstedt
John Nienstedt has written a very gripping book about Norman Fuller and the "Voice of Evil" that follows him around
in his mind. Fuller was a Pulitzer nominee and very a well-known journalist in his area of expertise, who, because
of the notoriety of the possibility of the Pulitzer, started down a slope to nothingness in his writings for the
past few months. His boss and mentor decides to send Fuller out to do some legwork journalism in the hopes that by
so doing, his curiosity and edge will creep back into his writing. He sends Fuller to Kansas City, and Fuller gets
involved in the food processing industry and sees all the dirty secrets and wrong-doings that are committed by these
huge companies in an effort to keep business coming in. The "Voice" sends him into a murder investigation that
makes him realize that the things that one thinks are sometimes evil are not always so, and that things one thinks
of as everyday and good are not always the best intentioned.
Evil Business deals with how our country is dealing with serious health threats such as obesity,
depression, and high cholesterol that plague our citizens, and how our government tells us we should be more
concerned about terrorism and political endeavors than the ability to live as God intended us to by eating things
that are good for us. This is a very well-written book that will get you thinking about all that goes on around you.
The evil that we face from the best of friends is sometimes far more insidious than the strongest threats that come
our way through force. I did not read Nienstedt’s first book, See the Monkey, so have no reference to go on
about parts of the story that relate back to his other work. However this book can stand alone and be a good
starting point to get further involved with the "Voice of Evil" and John F. Nienstedt. He has a great future in
writing. Follow Fuller from the core of our culture to a remote village where he comes upon the truth that is
greatly feared by those who have or want power. This is a very intense book, so sit down and enjoy the ride. |
