Murder of a Botoxed Blonde
A Scumble River Mystery #8
by Denise Swanson
It’s Thanksgiving for Skye Dennison and her family. Unfortunately for Skye, she’s caught going to a health spa
with her best friend, Trixie, along with her mother, ex-boyfriend’s mother, and possible future sister-in-law
for a girls’ weekend. Luckily, the weekend is complimentary as long as Skye can help find who is digging up the
spa’s property for hidden jewels. Unfortunately for another spa goer, a mud bath turns out to be the worst
treatment for this former model, since she turns up dead. Who killed the model, and will Skye figure out what she
wants in life?
Murder of a Botoxed Blonde is not as good as some of the other Scumble River Mysteries. This is probably
because the setting doesn't place Skye, where she’s a counselor. The mystery of who killed the model takes
precedence over the story and initial plot focus of trying to capture the jewel searchers.
Skye’s character continues to be a delight to read and the subplot of her love life is entertaining and true
to life. Her relationship with her mother is amusing and easy to picture. |
