No Good Deeds
Tess Monaghan series #9
by Laura Lippman
Baltimore reporter-turned-private-detective, Tess Monaghan, returns this time to find herself dragged into a mystery
surrounding the death of a federal prosecutor. When her boyfriend Crow brings home a stray kid by the name of Lloyd,
little does she know he may hold the answers to this death. With a desire to protect this kid and a refusal to name
him, things begin to get dangerous for them all. Federal agents apply pressure and others end up dead. Tess and
Crow try to unwind the mystery and discover what it is that Lloyd knows that others want him to keep quiet about.
Loosely based on an idea from the actual murder of a Baltimore prosecutor in December 2003, this story examines
the possibilities and the "what if" it happened a certain way. The suspense keeps you turning pages, with plenty of
unexpected surprises. It lends truth to that old saying that No Good Deeds go unpunished. |
