Mary Daheim rewards her loyal fans with another charming bed and breakfast mystery, Scots on the Rocks.
In this story, bed and breakfast owner Judith Flynn made a bet with her husband, Joe. The stakes were high. The
winner got to choose where they spent their vacation. Judith’s cousin, Serena "Renie" Jones and her husband,
Bill, agreed to go with them.
Judith lost the bet and Joe, with Bill’s help, planned their vacation, carefully keeping their plans a secret
from their wives. Judith, assured by her husband that her desire for a place with a beach and an ocean view would
be honored, was excited. She was positive Joe was taking her to Dana Point, California, just where she wanted to
go. She packed accordingly.
Thus on the morning of their departure, Judith was surprised to see Renie dressed in a wool skirt and sweater.
Since they were flying, she was not surprised that Renie was drunk. It wasn’t until they were about to get on the
plane that Judith learned two things. They are going to Scotland and Renie knew in time to pack warmer clothes,
but didn’t tell her cousin.
Judith was glad to escape. Her B&B license was hanging by a thread. The board felt she’d become involved in
entirely too many murders. She was glad to forget all about that for a while. Little did she know she’d soon be
up to her eyebrows in yet another slaying
Scots on the Rocks is a light-hearted look at the darker side of the vacation habits of bed and
breakfast owners. It’s a clean book filled with adventure, interesting characters and a great setting! There is
nothing like a castle overlooking the ocean shrouded in fog for a good murder. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Read Scots on the Rocks and enjoy!
