Dear Ophelia is a local librarian with a gift she is not always grateful for. She is a physic and a folk magic practitioner, better known as a witch. She seems to have inherited these traits from her grandmother, Abby, and has since taken on the job of mentoring Tink, a young medium with a penchant for trouble.
After a time, Ophelia has decided that she wants to adopt Tink. That is more than enough excitement for her so when her elderly Aunt Dot comes up with a hair brained plan to investigate the murder of a local funeral director Ophelia is less than eager to help.
However, before she can properly dissuade Aunt Dot, Tink's precocious dog carries a skull out of the nearby wooded area. Unfortunately, this skull is not from an old burial, nor is it an unfound missing person. It appears to be yet another murder victim.
During this time, Tink is having some horrific visions requiring the use of her medium skills. The visions are of terrible ghosts begging for her to help them. Before Tink can figure out just what these visions mean or how to help these apparitions, she is kidnapped and it is up to Ophelia and Grandmother Abby to save her.
Throw in a creepy crematorium owner, modern day body snatchers and various other road blocks and Ophelia is forced to use all her skills to save the young girl she has come to love.
