Anatomy of Fear
by Jonathan Santlofer
Nate Rodriguez is a talented New York Police Department sketch artist who has a psychic ability when it comes to
visualizing perpetrators. He joins Detective Terri Russo, who heads the New York Police Homicide Force, in a case in
which the killer, a white supremacist, claims to take his deadly orders from God. The killer leaves his own pencil
drawings on his victims at the crime scenes. Nate turns to his Puerto Rican grandmother, a Santeria priestess, for
help. Together they come up with a drawing which points to a suspect close to home.
This is an action-packed, chilling thriller about a psychotic serial killer. There is a trail of red herrings
in which those close to home are implicated. The character studies are well done, from the overbearing FBI agent
to the romantic relationship which develops between Nate and Terri. The information about the Santeria practice is
well researched and interesting. The plot is graphically compelling, ending with a chase with Terri in peril.
The text is supplemented with sketches by the author, a respected Artist, which help to illustrate the killer's
crimes. |
