The Aztec Heresy
Finn Ryan series, book 4
by Paul Christopher
Christopher outdoes his last thriller (The Lucifer Gospel) with this newest addition The Aztec Heresy
is a thriller, a history book, an archeological expedition; fast moving, with secret societies of the past and present.
A contemparary crime and espionage drama, it is quickly paced with a twist in every chapter. Finn Ryan and a new
partner, Lord Billy Pilgrim, are on this particular job. A 15th century codex has been rumored about for many
centuries, but unproven to exist, until an old Spanish galleon turns up in the coastal waters of the Caribbean and
Gulf of Mexico. Do you believe that the Catholic Church could be responsible for holding evidence and covering up
events that happened in the past? Or that it could be making an ostentatious effort to throw people off the scent of
finding things that could change history, or change, in a significant manner, what might be going on in today’s
world? The members of a secret society that is an offshoot of the Church do. How much does the role of the church
affect our daily lives?
Paul Christopher presents this all very soundly, and he has honed in on exactly the right style of writing to make
the reader comfortable. His story rings true to the last word.
The Aztec Heresy is an easy read that will take your mind off of the everyday, mundane struggle. You can
get all wrapped up in Finn Ryan’s life, and the lives of those around her, on this mystery / thriller ride to find
the Codex of Cortez that Friar Bartolome de las Casas died to protect.
Finn and Billy find references to the codex in the General Archives of the Indies in Seville, Spain and set out
to find the original, retrieve it and, in the process, save many people’s lives and maybe our own Government in
America. When they get to this long forgotten wreckage underwater, their lives are almost ended when their boat
blows up and they are targeted by some nefarious characters. They then find another clue, and the race is on.
There are plenty of characters to keep your mind jumping and your thoughts guessing. You may wonder how this could
all happen in the world of today, but the possibilities are here, you just have to look a bit deeper into the
sinister side of things. I have to admit that I am a total fan of Paul Christopher and his mind. I thoroughly
enjoyed this newest book. He is becoming a great writer and I am happy to be able to review his books. |
