Blood Moon
First in the new Witches Moon series
by A. W. Gryphon
Whenever there is a new movie or book about Wicca, an earth-based belief system also known as the Craft, followers
brace themselves for yet another misrepresentation of their practices. They need not worry about A. W. Gryphon's
new book, Blood Moon.
This bright, young talent has crafted (pardon the pun) a story that is based on the values and practices of
modern Wicca believers, but also is a unique rendering of the tale of good and evil. This time the evil comes not
from outside in the form of witch hunters but from within by a group that has twisted the basic tenets of the Craft.
They are seeking out The One, a promised young woman who will come into tremendous power on her 28th birthday, which
happens to fall on Halloween and on the moon of the season known as the Blood Moon.
The young woman, Amelia Pivens Kreutzer, has lost her mother, her husband, and now her father to the hands of
dark forces. Yet she renounced the Craft as a young child after her mother's murder and has not been trained. Only
with the Blood Moon approaching does she reluctantly reclaim her faith and her place. With no time to train, there
is some question as to whether she will conquer the dark forces. The true danger for her and for the world is
whether those dark forces will consume her and use her for their own plans.
Brava, Ms. Gryphon. Blood Moon is a great first offering in a new series. I look forward to reading more
in the Witches Moon series. |
