The Critic
2nd in Enzo MacLeod series
by Peter May
Enzo MacLeod has his work cut out for him as he attempts to solve a four-year-old cold case, the murder of Gil Petty.
Mr. Petty had made several enemies in his life as the world's number one wine critic, and ended up missing during a
tasting tour. MacLeod's investigation is complicated by codes and secrets held among winemakers in France, where
Petty's body was found hung on a cross. Several people wanted Petty dead, including his own daughter, Michelle. Will
Enzo MacLeod be able to solve Petty's murder before another death occurs?
Peter May has knocked out another marvelous novel with Enzo MacLeod as the main character. MacLeod's investigative
strategies are excellent. The scenery of France and its wineries remain stable throughout the novel and are used
appropriately as the backdrop to Petty's murder. The puzzle is not easily solveable and makes for a good mystery
novel. The action has just the right amount of suspense to keep the reader on edge.
The Critic is a great second book in the series following Extraordinary People (also
reviewed on Myshelf). Peter May should be
able to continue with this series with success. |
