Daddy's Girl

by Lisa Scottoline

Daddy's Girl is an enthralling, can't-turn-the-pages-fast-enough suspense novel. It is riveting! With surprising twists and turns along the way, Daddy's Girl is a five-star read, and I highly recommend it to fans of suspense and fans of Lisa Scottoline.

Nat Greco is a teacher of law who loves teaching, even though she doesn't feel she's all that good at it. Her students seem to be more interested in cruising the world wide web and choosing what emoticons to add to their next e-mail than they are in learning about justice. But then sometimes law and justice aren't exactly the same thing.

Nat is asked by fellow teacher, Angus Holt, to teach a class at the Chester County Correctional Institution to selected inmates. She is hesitant but agrees. Shortly after the class begins, blaring sirens sound and the prison goes into lockdown. After being attacked by one inmate during a prison riot, Nat stumbles across a guard who has been stabbed but is still alive. As she tries to save his life, he utters his last words: "Tell my wife, it's under the floor."

After Nat receives a threatening phone call warning her to stay out of Chester County, she and Angus are almost killed when a black pick-up truck runs them off the road. Nat has been playing sleuth and failing miserably. She's turning out to be a lousy Nancy Drew.

After relaying the dying man’s last words to his wife, Nat's world turns upside down. Someone is trying to frame her for the murder of a state trooper, among other things. With less than $600.00 to her name, Nat sets out to find answers. A law professor turned fugitive.
