Death of a Blogger
Effie Dodd series #1
by Danae M. West
Death of a Blogger is a clever and modern twist on an old motive for murder: get the snoop before she can
spill the beans. There is no end to the number of people who want Wendy Wallace, the blogger, silenced. She sneaks
around town at night with her camera phone and posts the pictures and commentary on her blog, Eye on Stranded,
Idaho. Her latest entry shows the local butcher stealing cattle to drop his overhead.
Molly Anderson is accused of the murder when Wendy is found dead in Anderson's flower shop. Not only is Molly a
good person and popular candidate in the upcoming Stranded mayoral election, she is Effie Dodd's best friend, which
means she didn't do it (Effie says so)! We all want a best friend like Effie because she puts her head down and
gets results, no matter how many times somebody tries to kill her. She organizes the Stranded Pumpkin Seed
Festival, conducts Molly's jail-based campaign, manages her own store, Interiors by Effie, seduces an art teacher,
looks for a killer and feels bad when she forgets to water Molly's flowers.
I think you will enjoy Death of a Blogger. Not only are the characters engaging, but the subtopics (re: motives)
are timely and interesting. What a great way to spend an afternoon! |
