Death Walked In
Death on Demand Mystery # 18
by Carolyn Hart
Death walks into the historical home of Annie and Max Darling. While going through renovations, the home suffers
break-ins, murder, and deadly secrets. Max is still tormented by the last case. When his secretary tries to get him
involved in a new case, Max refuses to respond until it turns to murder and becomes personal - again. (Beware, there
are mild spoilers in first part of the storyline.)
The housekeeper of a wealthy family on the island is found dead. She's hidden the recently stolen rare Double
Eagle coins in Annie and Max's home. The victim's church chooses to keep the secrets of the dead - until someone
steps forward anonymously and puts Annie in the public eye as well as in danger.
It's Annie's luck to have the romantic setting of her historical home initiated with mystery and mayhem. And it's
Carolyn Hart's talent that gives readers likable characters, natural dialogue, a multifaceted mystery and a charming
island backdrop - even if it is out of season and a bit chilly this time around. Fans will enjoy the role of armchair
detective with Max and Annie, as well as seeing the characters move forward in their lives. In this episode, the
popular bookstore is a secondary backdrop to the new historical home and surrounding area. But fear not, the Mystery
Painting contest goes on. |
