Different Paths by Judy Clemens is a great book. It moves fast, keeps you interested and makes you want to
keep it available to read when you have a few minutes. I was very impressed with the flow of the book, the details
Judy was able to portray as the characters and storylines unfolded.
Stella is a dairy farmer who lives in Pennsylvania and has Lucy and Zach as her farmhands. Every day, the three
of them do what is necessary to keep the dairy farm operating.
Carla is a veterinarian and friend of Stella’s. One day she is car-jacked and injured while on a call. Carla ends
up in the hospital. Her vehicle is later recovered, but it’s a total wreck and not salvageable.
Nick is Stella’s boyfriend. He is diagnosed with MS and his family is forever hovering over him to assist him
with his daily needs, though he does not need or want that type of attention.
Katherine is a Mennonite pastor and is kin to Stella in an untraditional way. She takes the position as pastor
for a congregation close by and her husband and teenage son move to be by her side.
The little rural town where Stella lives seems to have an issue involving women in key roles of power. Someone
does not like what they see and goes to great lengths to make life in this little town scary and unpredictable.
Keep looking for the clues along the way, but beware, as they will take you in many different directions. You
will not see the solutions to this one coming, and when it all unfolds in front of you, you still will not believe it.
This is a great book and well worth your time to sit back and enjoy!
