Don't Make Me Choose Between You and My Shoes by Dixie Cash is a wonderfully written book that is very
entertaining. I enjoyed visiting New York City with this extraordinary cast of characters and was sad to see the
book come to an end. If you're like me and don't like to be left hanging in the air at the book’s end, you will like
the epilogue that nicely wraps everything up and lets you know what happened with the characters in this book. The
sister team known as Dixie Cash are marvelous writers and I look forward to reading many more books by them and
hopefully visiting Salt Lick, TX and Dime Box, TX again - I love their sense of humor.
Debbie Sue Overstreet and her friend and business partner, Edwina Perkins-Martin, are the owners of one of the
two beauty salons in Salt Lick, Texas. They also run a private investigation agency called "Domestic Equalizers".
When they receive an invitation to attend and speak at the National Association of Private Investigators, NAPI,
annual conference being held in New York City they are barely able to contain their excitement.
Celina Phillips from Dime Box, Texas having been an admirer of Debbie Sue and Edwina decides to attend the
convention too. Her dream is to be a PI just like Debbie Sue and Edwina. Soon after arriving in New York City
Celina meets Debbie Sue and Edwina and the three of them immediately strike up a friendship.
There is a serial murderer of prostitutes on the loose in New York City known as the "righteous avenger" and when
a woman they had recently befriended in the hotel bar, a prostitute, becomes the next victim the "Domestic
Equalizers" find themselves knee deep in this murder investigation. Who would have thought coming to a convention
to learn how to be a detective would end with the involvement in a real murder investigation?
