Originally published in 1996, this reissue of book four in the Aurora Teagarden series is a great read. The Julius
House follows Roe and her new husband, Martin Bartell. A prosperous executive, Martin knows Roe's fascination
with the Julius house, so he buys it for her as a wedding present. From that moment on, the fat is in the fire for
Roe!
A house with a mysterious past, the family vanished six years ago, and no one knows a thing about what happened
then... or what will happen next. Roe begins to remodel the house, and as she throws herself into the project, she
finds she has thrown herself into the murky history of the missing family.
Ms. Harris has such a clever way of approaching her subjects, and her characters, and in this fourth outing,
Aurora's personality is becoming much better defined and enhanced. Yet, even as the reader accepts the traits and
patterns of Roe's life, there are many surprises in store, and Ms. Harris drops subtle hints that can slip by the
inattentive reader. As the story progresses, and we are sucked deeper into the mystery and the horrors of the
Julius family, we are also learning more about Martin the new spouse, along with his army buddy Shelby Youngblood
and Youngblood's wife Angel, who become Martin and Roe's tenants and helpers in renovating the house. Are they
bodyguards of some kind? Moreover, what about that mysterious resident of the garage apartment, the mother of the
missing wife, Hope Julius? Who is she really, and why is she there?
Covering lots of territory, from Lawrenceton, Ga to New Orleans, Roe's new marriage, new house, and new life may
be more dangerous than she has ever experienced before. A great read, with humor, dark thrilling tendrils of secrecy,
and a deeper understanding of Aurora Teagarden, which makes this one of the best in the series, and a great find for
new readers and old. ENJOY!
