The Keepsake
Det. Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles series #7
by Tess Gerritsen
Tess Gerritsen's newest thriller, The Keepsake, takes Medical Examiner Maura Isles and Detective Jane Rizzoli
deep into the recesses of a museum where it has been discovered that a resident mummy is a well preserved, but recent,
murder victim. Things get even more gruesome, and more puzzling, when they discover that one of the museum's
shrunken heads is also a new addition. Filled with complex, compelling characters, this story will keep you
guessing.
Each of the museum's employees has secrets they don't want revealed, and when a well preserved "bog body" turns
up in the trunk of Dr. Josephine Pulcillo's car, then Pulcillo herself disappears, the action kicks into high gear.
Isles and Rizzoli must find her before she becomes another keepsake of the killer who has great knowledge of numerous
ancient ways to preserve a human body.
Maura Isles' love affair with the priest, Daniel Brophy, offended me at some level, but aside from that part of
the story, The Keepsake is a very entertaining and terrifying novel which I enjoyed immensely, and whose
shocking ending I couldn't guess. I'm looking forward to Gerritsen's next novel, but I hope Maura can find a new
romantic interest. |
