Mercedes Coffin
A Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus novel #17
by Faye Kellerman
When billionaire Genoa Greeves reads of the death of Hollywood music producer Primo Ekerling, murdered execution
style and stuffed into the trunk of his Mercedes Benz, she cannot help but remember the death of her favorite teacher,
Dr Bennett Alston, who was murdered 15 years ago in the same style. No arrests were ever made.. Now, she offers
the Los Angeles Police Department a substantial reward to solve the case.
Lt. Peter Decker is assigned the "cold case." With his team of Scott Oliver and Marge Dunn he finds a trail
connecting the two murders...a trail into the music publishing world, with betrayal and vengeance, which he must
resolve before tragedy occurs again, with his own life threatened.
Mercedes Coffin is a well plotted story with a cast of familiar characters. It is enjoyable to visit
friends and follow their careers and personal lives. The interplay between Decker and his Hollywood detective
daughter, Cindy, is an especially warm one. There is a look into the music scene both performing and publishing.
Kellerman delivers another absorbing story of the meticulous work of the police. |
