Murder
is Binding
A Booktown Mystery #1
by Lorna Barrett
Tricia Miles moved to Stoneham to seek refuge from
an unhappy divorce. After settling in, she opened up "Haven't Got
A Clue," a mystery bookshop nestled among several other bookstores
in this quaint New Hampshire village. Little did she know she would
soon be living a chapter from one of her own books. For when she
saw smoke pouring from her neighbor's cookbook shop, she raced in,
only to discover the sourpuss old woman face down, with a carving
knife buried in her back. It seemed that Doris, the now-deceased
neighbor, had managed to procure a very rare and expensive cookbook,
a cookbook which was now missing. And the prime suspect? Tricia
Miles, who struggles to clear her name while keeping one step ahead
of the sheriff, who seems determined to prove Tricia's guilt.
Lorna Barrett has written a true cozy, in every sense of the word.
She has captured the flavor of the New England small town atmosphere
along with the wonderfully quirky characters you would expect to
meet there. As the plot twists and turns, ala Agatha Christie style,
you will find the book as hard to put down as I did. The final twist,
at the end of this engaging tale, will surprise and delight you.
This is definitely a must-read for anyone who enjoys a nice romp
through Small Town America on a road filled with mystery, mayhem
and murder.
