Mystery Writers of America Presents The Blue Religon:
New Stories about Cops, Criminals, and the Chase
19 Original short stories
Edited by Michael Connelly
(Various authors)
The Blue Religion brings you nineteen original short stories spun from the world of police officers. Cop
stories told from different times and places and each very unique. Edited by crime author Michael Connelly, he also
has a rather heartrending contribution called "Fathers Day" with his well known character, Harry Bosch. Somehow it
seemed a fitting last story in the book.
I found that most of the stories were self-contained. No need to know more than what was presented, and each
story quite satisfying from start to finish. Several authors, though, would do well to turn these short stories into
complete novels. The varied characters in such stories told by Alafair Burke and T. Jefferson Parker beg for their
characters to be developed into longer works. Bev Vincent’s "Rule Number One" is not to be missed, either. Creative
from start to finish and a very satisfying read. |
