The Silver Needle Murder
A Tea Shop Mystery #9

by Laura Childs

The mystery starts with Theodosia and the staff catering opening night at the Belvedere Theatre. Everyone witnesses a murder, Theo spots someone on the run and poor Drayton gets in the way. Soon Theodosia is judging short films, outrunning threats, and fending off a Hollywood celebrity. But none of it gets in the way of running the shop or giving her dog Earl Grey the honor he deserves.

The mystery involves both Drayton’s and Theo’s friends and fellow Charleston commerce members. Theo is asked to solve the mystery of who killed the director and why. The closer she gets to the truth the more threatening it becomes. And as always, Theo gets a little insight from her favorite local detective - and all it takes is the right cup of tea and a treat or two.

The mystery mixes well with the activity of the Indigo Tea Shop, but a couple of clues gave away too much, making the mystery easier to solve compared to previous novels in the series. But this didn’t stop me from enjoying a nice trip to Charleston and the Indigo Tea Shop. Readers will enjoy the Recipes and Tea Tips at the end of this tasty mystery.

Heads up Laura Childs followers: Coming December 2008 Eggs in Purgatory, the first in Childs’ new Cackleberry Club Mystery Series.
