Stamped out by Terri Thayer is a great little book, full of mystery and intrigue!
April Buchert finds herself back in her hometown after fifteen years and a disastrous relationship. Finally she
decides to leave her husband Ken, whom she discovers is embezzling from her very wealthy clients. You see, April
is an interior designer, who specializes in stamping.
Around this same time, April’s father Ed decides he needs his daughter’s help to finish a huge construction
project that he knows she is perfect for. So April comes home.
While April was in high school, her father Ed came out of the closet and moved out of the family home, and into
the home of his lover, Vince. This, of course, caused a scandal in the rural small town, embarrassing both April
and her mother, Bonnie. As soon as April can leave town, she does. What she doesn’t realize is that one day she
will come back!
It’s the first day on the construction site and April is looking over the area in which they will be renovating
a portion of the Winchester Mansion, when they hear a huge explosion coming from the area known to the locals as
"the Castle." April and her father head over there, where Vince is already on the scene. Ed asks a very important
question, "Do we have a permit?" About this same time, the chimney begins to collapse and out rolls a skull. Let
the adventure begin!
This is a great book. Well written, faced-paced, descriptive and well-developed. This is another author I was
unfamiliar with prior to reading this book, but I will now be on the lookout for more of Terri’s books. Enjoy, as
I did!
