Tie Dyed and Dead
Sixth in the Stain-Busting Mystery series

by Sharon Short

Tie Dyed and Dead is Sharon Short's sixth book in her Stain-Busting mystery series. In this one, laundromat owner Josie Toadfern gets caught up in a murder right in her business's back room. And what a grisly murder it turns out to be! A record producer is found strangled by two tie dyed dresses that are attached to the wringers of a vintage ironing machine. Said record producer is the son of the original producer who signed the famous Mayfair Sisters back in the early 60s, putting Josie's town, Paradise, Ohio, on the map of folk music legends. Unfortunately, the Mayfair Sisters had stopped recording when the music changed with the importation of British rock, and Paradise returned to its sleepy roots.

Mixed in with the mayhem and murder is a sizzling romance between Josie and Levi Applegate, the new director of Stillwater Farms, a facility where Josie's autistic cousin is cared for. That is complicated by Josie's highly colorful dreams of her deceased junior high school teacher, Mrs. Olgevee, who seems to keep pointing out clues or personal insights that Josie can only decipher in hindsight.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tie Dyed and Dead. The mystery was fun to unravel and the romance added spice to this cozy. Included in this book are Josie's Tidy Tips, a syndicated column with all manner of cleaning and ironing tips. Sprinkled throughout the story are more stain-busting and laundry tips. Not only is this book a great read, but you'll want to keep the book around for reference for all of those great household tips!

I'm going to try to track down the other books in this series and see what other scrapes Josie gets into and what other tips she has. Great fun!
