When Harold Travis, the Republican nominee running for President, is murdered, Jon Dupre is arrested for the crime. Jon Dupre is a drug dealer and a pimp who runs an upscale escort service, a cover for prostitution. During a meeting with his attorney in an interview room at the jail, Dupre murders his attorney and it is then that Amanda Jaffe is assigned to Dupre's case.

As Amanda begins to investigate Dupre's alibi and other evidence in the case she puts herself and everyone she loves in danger. The closer to the truth she gets the more in danger she and her family find themselves. She is dealing with "The Vaughn Street Glee Club" which is a group of policemen, senators, lawyers, bankers and judges who deal in murder and mayhem. Pressured and threatened into dropping Dupre's case, Amanda holds on tight and continues to unravel this very complicated and dangerous case.
