When Day Breaks
by Mary Jane Clark
Constance Young, the morning anchor on KEY News, is leaving the highly rated morning program and joining the
competition at Daybreak morning news. Before beginning her new anchor position at Daybreak Constance
is found dead in the swimming pool at her country house in Westchester County. At first it appears she may have
drowned but when a dead Great Dane is found on her property the focus of the investigation shifts from an accident
to a homicide. Right before her death Constance was seen, and photographed, wearing a cream colored unicorn
medallion that had been a gift from King Arthur to Lady Guinevere in the Middle Ages. This medallion had been
stolen by the wealthy and unbalanced Stuart Whitaker, who was beyond smitten with Constance and had given her the
stolen medallion as a gift. Could it be that the person who killed Constance was really after this unicorn
medallion? Or was there some other motive behind the murder of this morning host of KEY News?
When Day Breaks is the first of Mary Jane Clark's books that I have read and I loved it! When Day
Breaks is a highly entertaining novel of suspense that kept me glued to its pages from start to finish. I
loved the behind the scenes look at the news station and found all the characters in this book to be likeable and
well-developed. Packed as it was with great characters and an excellent plot, I found When Day Breaks to be
an excellent book to read. I highly enjoyed it and recommend it to others. |
