Jackson Brodie, former P.I., returns in When Will there Be Good News? The last thing Jackson Brodie wanted
was another case to investigate. After his rich client had left him her fortune, he had retired and married a lady
named Tessa. He didn’t need to work. Then came the accident.
Brodie was on the train to London, or so he thought. In fact, however, he had boarded the wrong train and was
headed for his hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland. On the way, the train derails and Brodie is critically injured. He
would have died if a young girl named Reggie (short for Regina) hadn’t given him CPR. Brodie has severed an artery
in his arm and is in the hospital for sometime before he regains consciousness. His wallet was missing and the only
identification on him was an old expired driver’s license that belonged to a man named Andrew Decker, a killer who
has recently been release from prison. Unfortunately for Brodie, he can’t remember who he is or how he ended up in
the hospital.
His doctor tells him he will probably never remember the accident, or the time just before that, but the rest
would probably come back slowly. In a short time he remembers that his real name is Jackson Brodie. He tells Reggie
and the doctors, but Reggie is the only one who truly believes him. And Reggie is of the opinion that Jackson belongs
to her—she had, after all, saved his life—and she needs his help now to find her missing employer,
Joanna Hunter.
Reluctantly, Jackson agrees. He’s remembered who Andrew Decker is. Joanna Hunter is also someone he once knew.
He’d found her when she was six, hiding in the woods. She was the only one who’d survived Decker’s murderous rampage
when he’d killed her mother, sister and brother and the family dog. Now, with Decker loose and Joanna and her baby
missing...
When Will There Be Good News? is a riveting mystery I couldn’t put down. Mystery fans enjoy.
