Wild Fire
A Detective John Corey novel #4
by Nelson DeMille
Harry Muller, NYPD, now works with the Federal AntiTerrorist Task Force. He is sent out undercover to the
Adirondacks to stake out the Custer Hill Club, a men’s club whose executive board includes some of the most
powerful members of the government. He is apprehended, tortured and killed.
Detective John Corey, a member of the AntiTerrorist TaskForce (Plum Island) and his wife, FBI agent
Kate Mayfield, determine to find the reason behind the murder. They find the Custer Hill Club plans a
retaliation for the tragedy of 9/11. The plan is called Project Green. They plan on setting off nuclear bombs
in several US cities. The resultant destruction would be thought to be the work of the Muslim countries and
would put into motion the US nuclear retaliation called Wild Fire, which would obliterate the Muslim world.
This is a chilling scenario of what could happen if such weapons came into the hands of misguided and
obsessed individuals. The premise of the story is frightening. The action is fast-paced. The dialogue is witty.
The relationship between Corey and Kate is refreshing to observe. The characters are developed in depth, showing
the good and the bad in human beings.
A book which may leave the reader questioning those in charge of the security of the nation. |
