Curing the Blues with a New Pair of Shoes
Because nothing beats a new pair of shoes
Domestic Equalizers book 5

by Dixie Cash

Dixie Cash is actually two people: two real Texas sisters who conspired to write a witty, humorous, and fun tall-tale that is truly Texan! Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin are two hairstylists from Salt Lick Texas who find themselves engaged as crime detectives in a shoe-swiping incident.

Elvis Presley... in Texas? At Hogg’s Drive-in no less. Elvis once had a burger there and to commemorate this amazing event, Salt Lick is celebrating. On display are the famous Blue Suede Shoes. But not for long. They’re missing. And who is Adolf Sielvami? Debbie Sue wants to solve this small town crime and elbows Edwina into helping her. They begin by dismissing the sheriff and taking on the task of finding the shoe donor. The scene is set in 1954 west Texas. The dialogue is real, the scenes are recognizable, and the crime believable in a small Texas town. I’m from there. I recognized the characters and the small town antics of Debbie Sue and Edwina. It is a fun read, quick paced and funny. And the shoes have a happy ending.

If you can’t relate to this Texas tale, the authors have provided an index in the back of the book to familiarize you with west Texas folklore. If you are from Texas, you’ll have fun reading this one, and if you’re not, you won’t get the joke!
