Diablo’s Shadow by Mark Danielson, one word says it all: "FANTASTIC!"
Life is sad but true, none of us wants for any child to be hurt, kidnapped, abused or abducted, but it
happens every minute of every day. Life is meant for the children to outlive the parents, but sometimes that
just doesn’t happen. How would you deal with any of the things that I have mentioned? My guess, not so well!
But in this case, you might not have a choice.
Randy Connifer and his daughter Kerri spend as much time together as the court order will allow them to;
sometimes, it’s just not enough! Wednesday dawned in the San Francisco Bay area much like most days: cool,
threatening rain, and fresh. But before the day was over, life as Randy had known it would cease to mean
anything!
Kerri is an active and adventurous 6 year old who loves the outdoors as much as her father does. So their
weekly walk in a local park is something that she looks forward to. They have just enough time for a quick walk,
then to grab some hot chocolate and get to school and work on time, so they start out just before 7am. They
arrive at the park and get out of the car, noticing that today it’s just more quiet than usual. Kerri is on a
mission to see some wildlife and snow, so off they go. Randy is struggling to keep up with Kerri and her
enthusiasm, so he lets her get a bit ahead of him. Kerri’s favorite game is hide and seek, so when he does not
see Kerri as he nears a bend in the trail, he starts calling her name. Nothing! Kerri is nowhere to be found.
A strange sensation comes over him, he's not sure what or why, but he knows that something has happened to his
daughter.
The next 72 hours will be a complete nightmare for Randy and his estranged wife Amanda. Fingers get pointed,
mistakes are made and the weather doesn’t cooperate with a search. How will this mystery get solved? Is Kerri
still in the park? Was she abducted? From the first word of this book to the last word, you will be hooked!
All that I can say is Mark Danielson, you have outdone yourself with this one. It’s a fantastic book, and
I look forward to reading your next one and any that you have written previously!
