Esther May Morrow's Lot 62
Book Two of the Esther May Morrow Mystery Series

by Arthur Everest

Against her better wisdom Julie Blalock is reinstated into her former MI6 role "for a one-time op" to impersonate wealthy socialite Dorothy Buchan. She is to attend a Sotheby's auction of "An Eclectic Array of Antique Treasures and ‘The Archangel’ by the Mayan king, Vichama" from Esther May's curio shop. Nobody is sure what the Archangel can do, but the guest list of bidders includes proxies for multinational conglomerates, foreign governments, and terrorist organisations. Julie is instructed to take her assigned seat next to Esther May, read the situation, and under no circumstances allow the Archangel to leave the room.

The twist at the end of this novella was not the one I expected. It was viciously ironic and has the feel of a cliffhanger. It makes me wonder what will happen next as well as what happened in the previous volume, Esther May Morrow’s Buy or Borrow.
