Stuart Woods penned this book before his last one, The Run, and Grass Roots was a bit
better, although just as offensive in its bias as The Run was, at least to me. Woods has Will
Lee working as an assistant to a senator who is felled by a stroke. Will Lee is also involved as a
prosecutor in a high stakes murder trial in his hometown of Delano, Georgia. However, this case could
cause some serious problems in his decision to make that run for the senator’s seat. There is the usual
cast of nefarious characters who want to stop Lee from gaining what he thinks he should have, namely,
the Senate Seat. The characters range from a policeman chasing down a group of vigilantes to a power
hungry governor and the official right-wing bad guys who are out to wreck human life by their policies.
It is a fast paced story with many subplots going on, and lots of lusty sexual episodes, which will make
the readers who are hungry for that kind of excitement reach for more in the next book.
I have already reviewed The Run and was not much happier with it than I am with Grass
Roots, right now. They are both passable books and have a certain intrigue and suspense, but they
are not my cup-of-tea. He is a good writer, though. I just wish that he would not try so hard to
push the Liberal agenda.
