The Intruders

by Michael Marshall

Jack Whalen is an ex-police officer who left the L.A.P.D. and is still bothered by the past. Jack is trying to become an author in a small town when he is surprised by a visit from a friend he has not seen in decades.  This friend, who is now an attorney, wants Jack's help. Jack barely knew the man.  Why is he visiting and what does he want?

The family of a scientist has been killed and now the scientist has gone missing.  Just who is the man who claims to be both an FBI agent and the killer; and why did he kill them?

Next Jack’s wife disappears into thin air during a business trip to Seattle.  He starts to wonder what is really going on in her life.  Jack starts to question his own sanity as he keeps getting odd feelings about the reality of his own life.  Is he dreaming or going crazy?

Then a little girl who also had strange and odd feelings disappears in Oregon.  Just what is going on?

This is a very well written book with definite supernatural tones.  It is mysterious, scary and sometimes downright bizarre.  It is very suspenseful and a page turner that you won’t want to put down.  It raises a lot of questions about the existence of things that we don’t know what to make of.  Readers who like a scary mystery and more than a dash of suspense will enjoy this book, but I also think that Science Fiction readers will love it too.
