Murder in the Latin Quarter
Aimee Leduc Investigation # 9

by Cara Black

Aimee Leduc is in her office when a Haitian woman comes in announcing that she is Aimee's sister, the illegitimate daughter of Aimee's father.

Aimee has been an orphan since her mother disappeared and then her father vanished.  She is thrilled to find "family" though has no idea what had happened to her father.

Aimee's partner, Rene, is suspicious of the sudden appearance of this stranger.  Aimee finds herself involved in Haitian politics which leads to murder.  She discovers the buried past and must find the truth before she can be safe again.

The setting of Murder in the Latin Quarter is on the Left Bank of the Seine in the old university district of Paris.  From there the reader is taken on a tour of the historic streets and buildings, adding atmosphere to the story.  The  glimpses of Haitian politics are informative and intriguing.
