Oolong Dead
A Tea Shop Mystery #10
by Laura Childs
Theodosia and her Charleston Tea Shop staff are back with tasty recipes, tea-time tips and
a traditional mystery. Theo falls from her horse at a jump show and decides right away she was
meant to find the body hanging on the fence. She just doesn't know why. What looks bad for Theo
is the identity of the victim. It's Abby Davis, Theo's ex-boyfriend's sister. Abby was a TV
reporter who disliked Theodosia from the start. When Theo's ex shows up with family in tow for
the funeral, Detective Tidwell requests that Theo get in the middle of both the service and the
family to seek out possible suspects. Theo's current boyfriend isn't feeling so secure and what
she does at the funeral stuns her employee Drayton. Suspects surface in different areas of the
victim's life, which has Theo driving to and fro, following clues. She also looks into
extending her personal life away from the shop. At a masked ball, Theo seeks truth, but also
tries to tread lightly for safety's sake. The masked ball is an operatic illusion turn deadly.
Can she escape back to reality? The storyline includes an opera, a secret society, and a
haunted plantation—now how Southern can you get?
For me, cozy mysteries and the enjoyment of tea go hand in hand, so to see this series take
off and stay steady isn't a surprise. Theo is a strong lead character and her entourage plays
well off her. Theo is constantly evolving as a character and the mysteries are getting better
and better. The Southern backdrop is charming and looks like Theo's personal life is shifting
away from the Tea Shop. Can't wait to see the next in series. Highly Recommended. |
