Stuart Woods has probably written some great books in his time, but this one simply wasn't
there for me. He was too biased and showing his liberal agenda way too much for my tastes.
The book was well written and in some points enjoyable, in a fast paced environment, but it
always came back to the same things and those views really turned me off. This is the first
book of his that I have put my hands on, as I’ve usually stayed away from this type of
storyline before, but I made myself take it and read it, and while I was disappointed a
bit, it was a good book.
Will Lee is a Senator from Georgia who is just learning his profession, and who was
given an opportunity to grab advancement due to a burgeoning case of early onset Alzheimer’s
in one of his colleagues. He talks it over with his wife, a high-ranking CIA executive, and
decides that he just might be ready for the jump to the presidency. He is not aware that
there are several people, behind the scenes, who don't want to see him reach that goal and
he steps into the middle of some dirty games and situations. There is some fast action that
is treacherous and decidedly dangerous that he has to overcome to get where he wants to be.
His wife also gets into the mud up to her neck, and that is what makes this story a good
read, for me, anyway. Does he make it? Do his wife and life remain intact? Read it and
find out... I did, and was not disappointed, but rather let down that Mr. Woods chose this
book to state that every conservative person in America is a dumb bumbler who doesn't count.
