Server Down
A Mad Dog and Englishman Mystery #5

by J. M. Hayes

Mad Dog Maddox simply wanted to see the ceremony the Yaqui Indian tribe was celebrating in Arizona.  So, he and Hailey, his mixed breed wolf, made a rush trip from Buffalo Springs, Kansas, to Tucson.  They arrived just before the ceremony began.  Mad Dog gave Hailey a huge bowl of water, which she promptly emptied.  Then, she vanished into the night.  Mad Dog wasn't worried, though.  Hailey often did this, and she was capable of more than he wanted to imagine.  He only knew she would be at his side the moment he needed her.

Mad Dog walked on to the ceremony, leaving his car where it was.  At the gate of the Yaqui reservation, he was accosted by a man who appeared to be an elderly Yaqui shaman.  The old man objected to Mad Dog's presence there, even stole Mad Dog's medicine pouch.   An Indian guard, a Sewa, hired by the Yaqui to keep out the spectators who would disrespect the Yaqui religious beliefs, stepped up.  When Mad Dog tried to retrieve his pouch, the shaman knifed the guard, killing him.  Since Mad Dog looked white, he ran.

Server Down begins as a murder mystery, one that immediately grabs your attention.  The characters are both believable and larger than life.  The plot is gripping and has a lot of twists and turns that will keep you turning pages.  When you learn just how this mystery got solved, you'll have a new respect for police and computer geeks.  You'll even admire the genius it takes to invent a new computer game, especially one which affects the real world.  This is one mystery you woan't put down willingly.  Pick up Server Down and all the Mad Dog mysteries, sit back and let Mad Dog and Hailey take you for a wild ride.  You're in for a rare treat.
