Sweetheart Deal
Lilly Cleary series #4
by Claire Matturro
Lilly Belle Rose Cleary, attorney-at-law, is a defense attorney protecting professionals against malpractice
lawsuits in Sarasota, Florida—engaging in battles of the wits won by the witless. Lilly receives a phone
call from her younger brother, Dan, telling her their mother, Willette, has been arrested for shooting and killing
a bill collector on her front porch. Willette, a severe agoraphobic, hasn't left the house in well over twenty
years. Twenty years earlier Willette locked her own children out of the house and hasn't spoken to Lilly or
Lilly's older brother, Devlon, since that time.
Lilly arrives in Bugfest, GA to find her mother doped up and unresponsive. Things were simply not adding up in
clear, concise, neat little columns of good sense and reasonable reactions. So now it's up to Lilly to find out
what really happened with the bill collector / repo man and keep her mother out of jail and / or a mental
institution. Lilly's theory is that if she asks a question often enough eventually she'll get an answer.
Something is afoot in the small town of Bugfest, GA and someone is trying to kill the helpless Willette.
But why? With the known death count at two, and the list of the missing growing by the hour it's up to Lilly
to put the pieces to this puzzle together and quickly before another dead body turns up or another resident of
Bugfest goes missing.
Sweetheart Deal is an excellent read! I loved Lilly's personality and witty sense of humor. The plot
was suspenseful and engrossing. The characters are well-developed and the plot well-drawn out. If you are a fan
of suspense then I recommend Sweetheart Deal. This is the first book by Claire Matturro I've read but
it certainly will not be the last. I have personally added Claire Matturro to my *automatic* buy list. |
