Corinna Chapman is up to her elbows in making sure that her Earthly Delights bakery stays
afloat when a franchise bakery opens down the street. In the midst of trying to survive, there
are some very strange happenings around Lonsdale Street. People are walking around, singing,
and acting like they are high on something. And it seemed to start when the new bakery opened
up. Or could it have something to do with Corinna’s pagan friends?
Corinna Chapman is a no-nonsense true baker and it really shows in Trick or Treat.
People will be able to relate to how she feels when a mysterious woman from her boyfriend’s
past comes and stays with him and with how she tries to overcome several police visits and
other strange happenings around her bakery. Corinna has a real self compared to some other
star characters in other mystery novels out there. She has substance.
The environment of Lonsdale Street is perfect for a mystery novel like Trick or Treat.
It shows how influenced a small community can be when new stores open and strange things start
to happen. It adds a tight feel to how the mystery affects everyone. If the story took place
in a big city like New York or Los Angeles, it would not be as cohesive.
