Unseen

by Nancy Bush

Gemma wakes up in a hospital and is not sure how she got there or what happened to her.  As Detective Will Tanninger begins asking her questions, she gets even more confused.  Someone ran over a guy, and he was currently fighting for his life on the floor right above Gemma.  Did she do it?  Everyone is asking her that question, and her only response is, "No I didn't."  But she isn't even sure herself.

Will Tanninger is a good detective, always catching the bad guy and making sure the residents of his town are taken care of.  His biggest dilemma: how do you feel sorry for a guy hit by a car and in grave condition, when you find out he was trying to abduct a little girl?  He had the tape, the ropes, and everything else needed to torture and hurt an innocent child.  Tanninger wants to believe that Gemma is innocent. There is something about her that intrigues him, and he wants to get to know her better.  Can he mix business and pleasure together and still do his job?  He has to catch the person who ran over this scumbag, and he also has to prove that Gemma is not that someone.

Lucky comes and goes as she pleases and her mission in life seems to be to rid the world of pedophiles and sex offenders.  Borrowing cars to help her do her dirty work and then returning them when she is finished, she has a knack for sneaking in, taking care of the situation and then out again without anyone knowing.

What do Lucky and Gemma have in common?  Are their stories somehow connected?  How will Will solve his very interesting case and prove that Gemma is innocent?  Or is she?  The twists and turns in this book are amazing with a capital "A".  Just when you think you’ve figured it out, you have to take a second look at all of the details and, I will guarantee, the outcome will surprise you!
