Vi Agra Falls
A Bed and Breakfast mystery, No. 24

by Mary Daheim

Judith McMonigle Flynn's life is disturbed by the arrival of her husband's ex-wife, Vivian, in her home in the neighborhood with her new husband Billy Bass.  Vivian has become extremely rich from the death of her wealthy husband Billy's father.  She plans to build a huge condominium in the neighborhood.

The body of an unidentified man is found by a tree behind Vivian's house.  She runs to Joe (Judith's husband) for help and Judith is forced to bring her investigative talents into play.  The arrival of Billy's brother and his wife complicate the situation.  It takes all of Judith's talents to unscramble Vivian's convoluted marriage history and the various children from those marriages.

Vi Agra Falls is an entertaining story.  It takes a smart reader to sort out the confusing relationships of Vivian's various offspring. There is a cast of crazy characters, with Judith's cousin Rennie's mother adding to the humor.  The action is nonstop with enough twists and turns to confuse the reader.

Good for a quick read on a rainy afternoon.
