Pat Nolan goes to Paris to claim the body of his estranged daughter, Megan, which has been
recovered from the Seine River. He identifies the body as Megan's although from her "suicide"
note he realizes that she has staged her death and needs his help.
The French police are dubious about his identification and assign Catherine Laurence, a
beautiful Paris detective, to watch him. Together they follow the clues left by Megan and
in the process find a need and love in each other. Megan is an expatriate freelance
journalist who is researching a story about terrorists. She has supported herself by selling
her body to affluent men. Now she is involved with Lehani, a Saudi businessman whom she
discovers is the head of a terrorist cell intent on an attack on the French. The French
police believe her to be a terrorist as well. She fears for her life from Lehani. It
becomes a race for Pat to find Megan before Lehani can kill her to prevent her exposing him.
A World I Never Made is an intriguing mystery. It is solid entertainment with an
interesting and diverse cast of characters which include gypsies, Saudis, French officials, and
the FBI. This gripping page turner is a fascinating story of power and treachery and also about
the troubled relationship of a father and daughter. The action ranges from Paris to exotic
locales on two continents.
