Among Thieves
Scott Finn book 3

by David Hosp

David Hosp has penned a mystery that has basis in the real world. In 1990 there was a theft of half a billion dollars worth of paintings from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. This theft was never solved. This story provides the backdrop for the novel Among Thieves.

Scott Finn is a Boston attorney with a bit of a lurid background in the Boston underworld. He takes on the case of a friend from that time, Devon Malley, who has been accused of robbing a high-end clothing store.

Scott soon discovers that much more is involved when prominent members of Boston’s underworld begin turning up murdered and the methods point to torture used by the Irish IRA.

It appears that Malley was one of the thieves when the museum was robbed. One of his accomplices was Liam Kilranish, an ex-IRA operative who has come back to extract revenge on the men he feels hid the paintings.

In order to save both his client and himself Scott must go deep into the Boston underworld to solve this mystery and stop the tortuous murders.

This was my first David Hosp novel and in turn the first featuring Boston attorney Scott Finn. The plot moved quickly, if rather violently at times. The depiction of Boston and the area surrounding the novel was well done. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good thriller and I intend to go in search of the previous books featuring Scott Finn.
